START TIMES

18-Mile Ride

Start time: 12:00 p.m.

This ride starts ONLY in Manhattan.  Live in another borough? Easy! Hop the subway to the Manhattan start.  (You know that bikes are allowed on the subway, right?)  The kids ride will have expert leaders riding along with you.

ALL OTHER DISTANCES

35-miles

50-miles

75-miles

100-miles

Same start time for the Manhattan or Brooklyn start lines.

7:00 am. - 8:30 a.m.

If you are doing one of the longer routes we recommend that you start closer to that 7:00 a.m. time.

What Time Can I Start Pedaling?

You show up any time you want between 7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.  Check in, grab a free light breakfast and a route sheet, and start to pedal whenever you're ready.

If you already have your rider I.D. materials, do NOT get in the check-in line!  Just grab some food and a route sheet and go!

I Want to Do the Escorted Version of the ride

Want some company on the route? We offer escorted versions of the 18-, 35-, 55-, and 100 mile routes. Our top cyclists will ride along with you and help make your day great.  You need to be a registered rider to participate, but there is no extra fee for doing the escorted ride.  Complete details on the Escorted Ride is available here.

The Route Map & Turn Sheet

We do not release the route map or turn sheet in advance. A couple days before the ride we will also distribute digital copies of the route sheet for those who want to navigate with their smartphone or bike-mounted GPS. Plenty of hard-copy route sheets available at the start line on ride day. No hard-copy route sheets are provided in advance.

Is the Route Marked?

Yes.  Details here.

Are There Rest Stops?

Yes. Every 15 - 25 miles apart with all the goodies -- food, water, sports drink, mechanical support, a surprise or two...   Details here.

How Do I Register?

There’s ONLY one way -- click here.

How Much Does it Cost?

This ride benefits Transportation Alternatives.  Prices vary, depending on how early you sign up. Take a look here for the current price.

Anything Special I Need to Know?

We ride rain or shine -- no rain date, but we offer optional rain insurance here.

*A friendly note from Glen, your tour director and humble servant who loves you no really.

If you decide to just read this one page and skip the rest of the web site, that’s cool... see you on the ride!

BUT... if anyone emails to state:

“I read the one-page summary, but how come there wasn’t any info on [some topic that is covered clearly in excruciating detail elsewhere on this web site]?”

...that person will be immediately transferred to our help desk somewhere far, far, away where the support representatives only speak a language that has not been invented yet.

Of course if you DO read the web site, or at least TRY, and STILL can’t find the info you want, by all means drop us a note! I’m always glad to hear from you and will answer your question personally.

OK?  OK!

Ride Hard • Have Fun • Don't Act Like a Jerk.

Quick Start Guide

Electronic gadgets often come with a Quick Start Guide, also known as, "If you won't read the instruction manual, at least read this one page, you lazy bum, before you break something."

SO... one of our riders gave us this great idea: a Quick Start Guide. If you don't want to read all of this lovely yet annoying web site, here's the minimum you need to know to have fun on the ride.*

When Is the Ride

Sunday August 21, 2022

Rain or Shine

How Long Is It?

There are five routes -- your choice:

18 miles • 35 miles • 55 miles • 75 miles • 100 miles

We ask you during online registration which route you THINK you want to do, because that information helps us plan better. On ride day you can pick any start line and any distance -- no need to notify us if you've changed your mind.

How Do I Get My Rider Packet?

The wise move is to head to any Bicycle Habitat store during normal business hours -- you can pick upyour rider I.D. there for free. This means that on ride day you won't have to wait in line to check in!  DEADLINE to pick up your backet at Bicycle Habitat is at noon on Thursday August 18th.

Where and When Do I Show Up on Ride Day?

You have some choices (we love choices!)
